You have a strange view of what the Irish are like
Yep, all the maudlin, sentimentalising, self-deluding, blubbering, alcoholic-drinking, religious-cult-believing, dole-bludging, loud Irish descendants who have bred like rabbits and are vastly over-represented in Australia today.
And that is what constitutes Irishness then?
He is a self-publicising so-called-'Social Justice Warrior' who uses emotional causes (such as the execution of the drug-runners in Bali this week) to publicise his childlike paintings.
Wait so being Irish is making art about emotive causes?
I am sufficiently old-fashioned to think Art should 'enoble' (look it up in dictionary). I am not one of those Andy Warhols who say Art is just a joke. That movie cost $13,000,000 but what did it do to lessen rape and theft in Council Housing.
I am not saying it's acceptable, but I am saying it happens. Therefore I am not opposed to it being represented in films.
I don't feel quality is the deciding line with what is/isn't art. It was an average and forgotten film - that does not mean it is somehow less than art. People spent time crafting it.
If I recall there was a thread about the goings on in Canada but no one bothered posting because I doubt much Intresting ever happens there anyway. That may explain why they're so grumpy all the time.
Look, listen and rejoice
