Biscuits/cookies - for a non-American all rather confusing! We have cookies too, but we call them, er, cookies! hehehe. In the past when watching American tv shows or movies and someone referred to biscuits and gravy I used to be totally mystified because I associated biscuits with what we have and couldn't imagine eating them with gravy, not even the simplest most basic sort.

we were throwing from 12 feet or so away from the board...I became good at it

...later on, as an adult when I worked in a bar part-time, I found out that regulation distance was just under 8 ft.
