    I quit smoking.
    One week ago.
    No drama.
    No trauma.
    No crying for my momma...

    No patches, potions or pills.
    No acupuncture needles in my eyeballs, or electro-shock treatments to my testicles .
    No screaming fits or out-of-control craving.
    No fuss or bother of any kind.

    I just quit.
    It was easy.

    I may have mentioned (once or twice) that I smoke.
    I started in July, 1971.
    I was 12 years old.
    Now, I'm 47 and I'm entertaining the idea of quitting.
    No, I haven't had any health scares.
    No, I haven't been motivated by the incessant nagging from my family.
    Or by those pain-in-my-ass NO SMOKING! EVER!ANYWHERE! ANYTIME! YOU FILTHY, DISGUSTING, EVIL, SMOKING BASTARD! laws.

    As a former journalist, I wish that I could claim to be the author of the following masterpiece.

    However, in all honesty, I must admit that I have NEVER been this eloquent.
