Hello JUBS
Can't help my ignorance and thought some of you might help me.
I met this guy that really turns me on and its driving me to the edge... but he wants to use poppers for a...l extension.
Of course Ive heard of them and seen them in stores, but never in my bed! Aren't they dangerous chemicals? or is it an urban legend that they can make damage to the brain?
BTW, are they really going to make me wide open? (*U*)

I'd like to know that one too. Do they even really work? I've never been into them myself.

Be careful with ALL and EVERYTHING that you use, do, smoke and inhale. I think they are great !! But I wouldn't run around with a bottle up my nose!!

Check out the discussion thread in HOT TOPICS on Ecstasy and Poppers...there are plenty of opinions there for you to make the best informed decision for yourself. Be safe and take care, jeff

I have no clue what the effect is like, but just don't swallow it. Also it is highly flammable as said on the sites above.

And just because he wants to use poppers doesn't mean you have to take them too.

Well, I wasn't that scared with the side effects. I don't use if often, but it can be really nice during sex - much longer lasting erections, and yes, muscular relaxation. I did not find it addictive at all, so I guess it will be sort of safe provided it is used only occasionally...

Everything in life is dose-related...poppers cause profound vasodilation, do if you do it a lot, it can be very harmful. A guy in my hometown died during a popper rush, but he did it a lot.

I've used poppers almost daily...ever since we figured out how to make them in highschool chemistry class in 1958. That was the pure Amyl Nitrate, used as a prescription drug for heart patients. We would saturate cotton balls with them and drop them into a mason jar.

We danced our way through the disco era with 'Rush' and 'Lockeroom', and I doubt if Y.M.C.A. would have even made the charts without them.

In the early 80's at the beginning of the AIDS epidemic, they tried blaming poppers and suddenly they became illegal in all states. Slowly those in charge realized their mistake and most states took the statute off the books. Most, but not all...they are still illegal in some places, and pure Amyl Nitrate is still only available by prescription.

Room odorizers, liquid incense, and video head cleaners are all made up of other nitrites such as isobutylnitrites, among others. This way they can get around the prescription drug laws.

I ask my doctor (gay, and well versed in the actions of our community) about there use, and he explained to me exactly how they work and what they do. He told me there were no adverse side effects, they were not habit forming, but that I should use them, like anything else, in moderation.

He said the same thing about my weed...http://justusboys.com/forum/images/smilie/icon_wink.gif

I sell a room odorizer in the shop called 'JungleJuice' and we go through at least a gross a month...it's still as popular as it ever has been. I have been in shops in both London and Amsterdam that offered as many as 12 different brands, but here in the states you just see the two or three most popular...Rush, JungleJuice...and now the newest, JungleJuice Platinum which is labelled Amyl Nitrite. (not 'Nitrate' as in Prescription only)...never underestimate the inginuity of the sex industry. http://justusboys.com/forum/images/smilie/icon_twisted.gif

Hmm... that's funny... I thought the effect was produced by the arteries opening up to allow more blood to pass through. That would also explain the fast heartbeat, the blood-rush to the head, why it makes your cock feel great during sex, and why it increases the risk of HIV during unprotected sex.

Get your facts right [-X , poppers are safe under the conditions that u don't have a high blood pressure and u use protection during sex

you should use protection during sex all the time anyway. but I'm guessing you knew that,

Your arteries open up, yes... but the chemical you're breathing in is killing your brains cells. which is why you feel disoriented.

And speaking from experiernce, there's nothing that's more of a turn-off than some one who while having sex has to hold a small bottle of foul-smelling oil to his face and huff and puff.

I've thrown guys out of my apartment.. naked..for doing just that. (!) :=D: ..|

brain cells do not regenerate. if the feeling of disorientation is caused by brain cells dying, you would remain disorientated.

you have HEARD of alcohol, right?

That's what being drunk is... the alcohol slows the oxygen to your brain, making you disoriented. It kills brain cells. But you sober up, and everything returns to normal.

I tried it last night infact.

Safe? I dont know, but I'll ask my doctor tomorrow. Fun? I've had fun with them. I can take almost any cock in without help, but when there's poppers, I can throw a party. It makes me feel like getting fucked as hard as possible by the biggest possible dick. Two years ago I got screwed by 16 guys in a row, one by one. But that was without poppers.

Along with systemic vasodilation comes decreased blood pressure. Along with decreased blood pressure comes increased risk for stroke. Strokes are not fun things to have, and many times the damage done to the brain is irreparable, and hence the impairments to the body are permanent.

I read somewhere that poppers are only harmful to you if you over use them or you have a medical heart problem. I have used them in the past and the danger with them is the feeling of utter lust and with sex with strangers this sudden rush of passion can get you into dropping your inhibitions and throwing caution to the wind when it comes to condoms. As long as you don't use them during every ten minutes of the day, you should be fine. It is a pretty wild feeling when you are naked with a guy and you both take a whiff from the bottle and then *|* . Don't say no until you've tried it, that's my motto.

dude... don't even think about it, there are too many possible risks... you really never know what will happen, its different for each person... if this guy really likes you, he'll understand and respect your decision not too, if not, then i suggest you find someone better....

I've tried poppers, it was cool but It gave me a huge headache after a little bit. When I tried it again... I got the headache immediately... I don't think i'll be using them often myself...

If everything isn't "wonderful", "blissful", "thunderbolt-ful" to begin with, there's something wrong with you. Poppers aren't going to fix you.

I've never taken any stimulants and dern think I ever will. I'm f-ing great drug free.

I'm guessing everyone here is a pseudo-doctor, hell, most doctors are pseudo-doctors, I'm no different, but if I had to be intelligent, and guess from experience and grapevine news, I would say poppers are probably safer than driving a car (especially in traffic) and probably as dangerous as eating gluten (can kill some people). As far as side effects, I'd say those are about as severe as the scope of STDs (most of which are hardly severe, and many have a relatively low chance of spreading per encounter, but there are tons of horid and killer STDs out there). A biology major friend once told me of a study that determined about 70% of the sexually active population has genital warts. Not to mention if you become friends with poppers, you could feasibly find yourself having a little more sex than normal, which of course has downsides as well as upsides if you absolutely love sex.

Doesn't sound too bad to me, definitly on the low end of danger compared to most drugs, but I like to keep my drug varieties to a minimum, so I'll just keep my weed and alcohol. Image wise, poppers are sleazy as fuck, and like someone else said, they will probably get you kicked out of my bed.

Well, since no one has mentioned it, it might be a good idea to point out that IT IS DANGEROUS TO TAKE VIAGRA (or CIALIS or LEVITRA) WITH ANY NITRATE (Including POPPERS):

"The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned against the use of the impotence drug Viagra by persons taking medications that contain nitrates.

Viagra and nitrates both cause the muscles that control the size of blood vessels to relax. When these muscles relax, the vessels enlarge in diameter and, as a result, blood pressure drops. When Viagra and nitrates are taken together, the effects are greater than when either one is used alone. There may be a marked relaxation of the muscles that control the vessels with a great drop in blood pressure.

Lowering the blood pressure decreases the flow of blood to the heart and can precipitate a heart attack.

As of November 1998, 130 deaths had been associated with the use of Viagra in the U.S. Sixteen of the men who died had also taken a nitrate. "

You can Google Viagra and Nitrates for yourself and find a lot of references. Play Safely!

If you need drugs to make sex fun, perhaps you should reconsider your choice in partners.

From a raving site:

* If swallowed call 911 or Poison Contol.
* Contact with the skin causes irritation and rashes. Extensive use can damage the nose and lungs.
* Some people experience headaches, sensations of spinning or falling, and loss of erection.
* Poppers are highly flammable. Keep away from cigarettes, candles, and lighters.
* Studies show that poppers reduce the functioning of the immune system for several days after use.
* Because poppers cause blood vessels to open, it is easier to get an infection, including sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV.
* Poppers pose extra risks for people who have suppressed immune systems, heart problems, low or high blood pressure, a history of cerebral hemorrhaging, anemia, or are pregnant.
* Combining poppers with stimulants like speed and cocaine increases risks. Combining poppers and Viagra is dangerous because both cause blood pressure to drop.
* Poppers can affect your judgment. If you are planning on being intimate, put on a condom before you use them.
* To prevent spilling and evaporation, pour a small amount in a separate bottle filled with cotton and store tightly sealed in a refrigerator or freezer.
* Possession of amyl nitrite without a doctor’s prescription is illegal. Federal law bans the manufacture and distribution of butyl nitrite and related substances, although these provisions have not been enforced.
