How to Download from Rapidshare.

ive been on JUB for a for a while and i seem to notice a lot of ppl have difficulty download from rapidshare.....

when you click the link to go to the rapidshare page, there should be a table at the bottom, that shows the benefits of premium users, ect... in the right hand table all the way at the bottom of the page, click FREE. and itll go to another page.

on that, it will have a countdown, usually 70 secs or less.

let it go to 0.

a thing will pop up and just type in the 3 characters that the little picture shows and hit "download"

it should open up.

i get that fine, but mine always says download session invalid.

i try everythin on the site it says and googled it too, someones either stealing my ip or rapidshare hates us who dont pay lol

Rapidshare sounds terrific but it NEVER works for me either. After the countdown timer and entering the code all I ever get is the message

"Download-session invalid. Please click here.

Possible reasons:

Download-session expired. Direct-links last a few minutes for free users and a few days for premium-users.
You requested this download-session from a different IP than yours. If you use AOL, try a different browser.
If nothing helps, getting a premium-account will override the IP-check, which means it will solve this problem."

Of course none of the "help" suggestions are of any use!

that means you entered in the wrong code.

make sure you have the right code.

and that it IS IN CAPS!

are you on a wireless network?

if youre in a cafe or at work and using a wirless network, if some1 else is on the wireless too, it wont work unless youre the only person.

nope at home, ive got a router but my pc is actually connected directly, with wires :)

funnily enough it works more times on my laptop than it does my desktop :(

Rapidshare remains nothing but a source of error messages for me, although Megaupload, which seems to be the same mechanism (usually!) works. Baffling.

I stumbled upon the easiest way to download from rapidshare (com or de), but you have to have a PREMIUM account (worth the $12 US for a single month of downloading).

Instead of clicking on links and shortcuts for each and every file, how about harvesting all the links off a page that contains rapidshare file addresses. It works on threads here on justusboys.com too.

THE PROCESS:
1) Copy the link into your clipboard
2) Visit www.linkleecher.com (free site) and paste in the link.
3) I add a filter of 'rapidshare' in the box provided so you don't come back with a list of every link on the page.
4) Click TEXT FILE as the output and click LEECH.

THE RESULTS:

Now, just copy and paste the list into your favorite downloader and let the downloading begin. I use rapget works great, but crashes every once in awhile. Its a free download at: http://www.rapget.com/en/download.html.

Again, this works only if you have premium access to rapidshare (or any of the major direct download sites). When you see how much time you save downloading (er, perhaps 'harvesting' is a better term for it) you'll be quick to see that it's worth the cost of a premium account.


EXCEPTIONS WITHOUT WORKAROUNDS:
Some exceptions that get in the way of using linkleecher: If you have to enter a password to see the links on a page, linkleecher will error out because it cannot log into a site. Since you can read threads and posts here on justusboys.com it works just fine.

Some blogs have link protection where you have to visit a different url to get the real rapidshare link. Linkleecher will not retrieve those for you ... you'll have to use the old manual retrieval clicking process.


I hope that helps some of you save some clicks .. giving you more time for strokes with all the new downloads you'll be retrieving.

P.S. If you're having troubles downloading from these sites its in your networking, firewall or the proxy maze that you're probably using to make rapidshare think you're from a different IP address.

I am downloading 5 files from Rapidshare right now at the same time .. and all of the speeds are between 100 and 200 KB/s. If I am downloading only one file the speed easily goes to the 400 range. The problem is NOT with Rapidshare which is really good news ... because it means you have control over making changes that can give you similar results.

Hmmm....Don't think I'll be forking out for something that I've no evidence would ever work on my set up. Thanks for the info anyway Pornocopia but I've no reason to believe I have any form of 'networking' or 'proxy maze' - but if I did wouldn't they prevent me from using other similar sites such as megaupload (which work) as well?

Twinkspunker (and anyone posting 'problem with connection' type of messages):

Can you give a detailed description of the path between rapidshare and your computer?

Important are things like: Routers/Switches/Cable Modem/DSL and specifics for any and all.

Firewalls and other software can get in the way (see * below if you use NORTON)

Don't forget that some FIREWALLS and SPY FIGHTERS will block ports, too, sometimes without a hint that it is happening.

Go to your EVENTS log and see if there are any clues there as to what might be causing the problems. Try to connect with RAPIDSHARE and when it errors out, REFRESH your EVENTS and see if there is a new entry. If so, that might be your smoking gun.

IF AND ONLY IF you're on a home network open your networking status page and click - SUPPORT then DETAILS and add those details. If you connect directly to your isp DO NOT POST this info as it will contain your external IP address and that would not be good to post.

Describe, as you have, how other similar programs or sites respond over the same connection. Those clues can be invaluable.

Of course, it's best to do this all in one easy to follow post, cause right now I can't even begin to remember who has AOL, who doesn't from the messages above, the only constant is that there are problems.

So, send the details and I'll do my best to help.



In any situation, however, here are a few resouces that might be able to help your whole internet experience.

1) www.dslreports.com (which will show up as broadbandreports.com)
Click on Tools and then you get to choose tests from these areas:

SPEED TEST
TWEAK TEST (not what you might be thinking)
LINE QUALITY TEST
YOUR IP ADDRESS AND IP WHOIS
SMOKEPING (will monitor and IP address for packet loss - NEW)
24 7 LINE MONITORING FOR TROUBLE
DOCTOR TCP (you might have had a nasty program change some settings and the DOC can help)
DOCTOR PING - compares your ping to a site with 100+ servers and other users
MOBILE SPEED TEST
BANDWIDTH CALCULATOR

and a bunch more.

2) Visit www.portforward.com if you have a router or hub etc. There are many specific solutions spelled out on this site and other sites you'll find links for.

Remember, there is a difference between a ROUTER and a HUB and a SWITCH and what you have to do to make each one work. Make sure you know WHAT you're using and perhaps the MOST important thing about network technology is to make sure you have THE LATEST FIRMWARE and SOFTWARE for your unit.

Hope that provides a little more help. After visiting the two sites above and still having problems, post a detailed account of your situation and we'll go from there to find a solution.l

* NORTON INFORMATION: NORTON SYSTEMWORKS has proven especially nasty at preventing things from happening, and not telling you that it is blocking communication. Even if you 'turn off' the module I've seen NORTON continue to block things anyway. With Norton sometimes even uninstalling the program won't fix it. I could NEVER connect to FILETOPIA on a computer that had Norton Systemworks installed. I'm not sure if everything is better with their newest version, but if NORTON has been there at any time since the last OS reinstall, it might be the culprit to some of your woes.
