i actually think i heard some doctor say on oprah (yeah i know...oprah) that you can drink you urine 7 times before it becomes to toxic for your body (which could very well be incorrect) but the guy who got his arm stuck in a gorge with his arm between the boulder and the gorge wall had to drink his pee, and they said it had just enough water to keep him alive...

...salt content, it may even cause you to lose more water through diuresis and become more dehydrated. Also, it should not do damage to your kidneys since the kidneys are used to filtering waste all of the time. An exception would be someone who already has a failing kidney system.

Urine is considered sterile immediately after it is expelled from the body but it can still serve as a medium for bacteria if it sits out for hours. (Exceptions would also be if there was a urinary tract infection.) As far as the consumption to save your life, it is still debatable. If you are needing to drink your urine to stay alive, you are probably already severely dehydrated and the water content in your concentrated urine will not be enough to really make a difference. NO urine is not uric acid, that is what birds make. Urine contains urea, which is a toxic substance and that is why it is removed from the body. So drinking cant be good for u, that whole detoxification stuff is a load of bullocks
