On Feb. 16, Christian Cruz won a GayVN Award for "Best supporting Actor" for his role in Michael Lucas' The Intern. Here's an interview I recorded with Christian last November.

I'm not enough of a romantic to believe in love at first sight. So I'm very glad that Christian Cruz's star-making performance in Lucas Entertainment's The Intern was the second time I had seen him on film, because it's the kind of performance that could make you fall in love.
His energy and charm are invigorated by a healthy dose of mischievousness, but when the clothes come off, he is ready to let himself loose. In fact, as you'll see in this interview, he's the kind of guy who can let loose with his clothes on, too. The Roman Catholic background adds mystery as well as spice, and Cruz has a social conscience, too. And did someone say chicks with dicks?


Tell me your age, height, weight, level of education.
I am 31, 5-foot-6, 140 lbs. I had four years of college with a major in Fine Arts and I have a Cosmetology License from the Vidal Sassoon Academy of London.

Where were you born? How and when did you come to the United States?
I was born and raised in Cadiz, Spain in a small town called Chiclana de la Frontera, where my family owns a small farm. My mom, my hero and my best friend, decided that a little town in the south of Spain was no place for a young gay man to learn about life. I was sent to San Francisco with a one-way ticket, $1000 in my pocket, and without knowing a word of English at the age of 20, for a new beginning.

What's your "day job" now? I think you told me that you have a new job.
My first job in this country was cutting fish in a market. Not adjusting to the unpleasant smell I soon moved into housecleaning, gardening and some babysitting. In my second year I found a new, easy and fun way of making big money. I became a stripper for an adult movie theater, the Nob Hill. There I met my best friend today, Josh Weston. He is, and has always been, my partner in crime. The stories we have working as hookers across the country are my most fun memories.
Stripping, escorting and making adult films have made it possible for me to live an exciting life and go to expensive private schools like the Academy of Art College and The Vidal Sassoon Academy in London. My main job is as hair and make-up artist for print and film. Vivid Videos and Playboy magazine have been my major employers. I love my job!!

What was your first gay porn film and how did it come about?
My first adult film was for Falcon.com. Josh had worked for them plenty of times and for the most part he says it was fun ... so I went with them first.

How did you get the name Christian Cruz?
As a stripper at the Nob Hill Theater I would often feature a strip show of a Christian school boy gone bad. The name Christian Cruz (cross) was just perfect for that character. I went to a catholic school with my two brothers while growing up ... my outfit in the strip show was my actual uniform. My first gay erotic fantasies had to do with my priest teacher, and probably because of that, religion and sex make up my most erotic fantasies.

I've seen you in two Michael Lucas films, Auditions 19 and The Intern, and in Chi Chi's Restless Youths. Have you made any other gayporn films?
Just the one Web scene for Falcon.

In The Intern your accent was almost unnoticeable. Was that my imagination or were you deliberately trying to speak without an accent?
I have always tried to sound American. I pay careful attention to pronunciation but I don't think at this point I will ever be able to lose the accent!

You had two lines in The Intern that I loved. One was "Don't worry, I've done this before" and the other was "Tight, isn't it?" Were they in the script or did you make them up?
With permission from Tony Dimarco, the director, I rewrote my all my lines for the movie. While acting, I often make new lines as I go. Directors love that. Acting is another passion of mine.

How do you describe your sexual orientation?
Definitely a no label person, but if I do need to use one it would be "freak." Being a sex worker for so long has made me a person with almost no sexual limitations. But I must say I have a special weakness for big fat cocks ... yummm!!!! I am also known to enjoy once in a while what I call chicks with dicks. And once in a blue moon, I find someone that can make me come without physical contact, a mental fuck.

Are you in a relationship? How do you think working in the porn industry affects relationships?
I believe in love. I experience it every day in my life with family, friends and sometimes strangers. But that's as far as the meaning of love goes for me. I have never and don't think I will ever have a boyfriend. I'm happy to be always a free slut!

Is porn a temporary fun and a way to expand your income or is it something you want to do for a long time?
I wanted the experience. I often enjoy whatever is shocking or different. I of course do enjoy the attention, but more so the reaction some people get when they find out there is a blown-up picture of my hole in the window of a porn shop ... LOL.

Do you have a favorite star, director or film?
Chad Douglas, porn star of the 80s. He is the only reason I would ever want to watch porn!

What is the most erotic or sexy experience you have ever had?
I think it has happened three times. Bottom or top, I am almost always the dominant one. It's hard for me to find someone who can dominate me. Not the leather master that is going to tie me up using his big muscles. No. The person to dominate me is the person who will find the way to fuck my mind. I love when someone really knows how to take charge of my mind, then my body.

Do your family and friends know about your porn career? If so, how do they feel about it?
They all know. I am gifted and very, very lucky to have the most beautiful family. We are all very close and spend great amounts of time laughing together.

Another big part of who I am has a lot do with my love for animals and nature. Since early age I have developed a very intense special care for our mother nature. Before every bullfight celebration in my town, when I was only 9, I was already fighting against animal cruelty. I have never understood how so many people are born with no respect or love for other living creatures. Today I am talking and fighting as a PETA activist to stop the barbaric treatment of animals. I donate 100% of my income in the adult film industry to PETA. This way I feel extra good about sucking and fucking for the camera, knowing it's all for a good cause.
